| There Have Been Some Changes (4/01/10 @ 9:14 PM EST): Amity Brawl is closing, and most likely staying closed this time. There didn't appear to be much interest in it after having been reopened anyways. Right now my plans are uncertain, but I'm thinking I may end up making a Pokémon/Nintendo/Technology forum at some point in the future, probably running on MyBB. If you really don't like any of those subjects or MyBB then that's kinda disappointing, but none the less I have spent too much time worrying about what others think and not enough actually running a forum, and I won't allow that to happen anymore. If/When this new forum is created I'll post a link here so that you can join us if you want to. Now for the silly speech I wrote when I was all depressed and didn't know what to do (3/05/10 @ 11:15PM EST): On February 29th I created Amity Brawl as a hang out for my friends from school and a place to discuss the ultra hyped game Super Smash Bros. Brawl. AB started out as a small modest site that had been thrown together in an afternoon, with an ugly default skin, no members, no posts, and no idea what it would soon become. But from there things progressed and after only a few months Amity Brawl had over 100 members and thousands of posts. It was a success, much greater than I had ever dared to hope for. Things were great for nearly half a year, but then things started to get less active, and my activity started to slip as well, bringing the rest of the forum with it. We did have a chance to recover though, in June of last year we had a plan, we had hope of bouncing back, of perhaps re-centering and repurposing ourselves. But then fate struck, the forum was hacked by an admin we all thought we trusted, and our hopes and dreams were similarly destroyed. It took me some time to get over that, perhaps too long. I didn't want to think about how my forum and its members had been violated in such a way, I wanted to start over. So I created Nintendoverse. But this turned out horribly. To this day I still do not know why many of our members hated it before even giving it a chance, but in the end I was forced to close it and reopen Amity Brawl, not because that's what I really wanted, but because the members demanded it, and so I complied with their desires. Amity brawl has always been about the people, not the forum, so I don't see why NV was so horrible, considering everything had been destroyed in the hack anyway. After the reopening of Amity Brawl in September things got a little better, a few of our tried and true members trickled back, but we were never able to recover to even a fraction of the original Amity Brawl's might. The original had over 30,000 posts before it was hacked, and the new version could barely even make a tenth of that in six whole months. The possible reasons for why it failed are limitless. Brawl became old and unpopular, I was less active, people found other forums, the list goes on. But that doesn't matter, the fact is that we failed, I failed. It is for this reason that I have decided to close Amity Brawl, effective immediately, perhaps forever. Good bye everyone, thanks for visiting. ![]() |
