Oh, whoops, I did say there would be eight. Scratch that. Six. The Shards of Darkness: Onyx-colored with a purple aura surrounding them, the Shards of Darkness are without question inherently evil. They are six in number, and exactly what these shards form when taken together is unknown to residents in Hyrule and Myrna, but they both know that they give tremendous power to whoever controls them. These are the very objects that Vakura sought and still seeks throughout the events of the game, and Syd and Link both know that he must be stopped, lest all hell breaks loose under his insane wrath. And I did see what you made so far. I'm still finishing up the prologue right now on UK. |

Time for a much needed update. This is a collection of pretty much all of the information that I have for the game so far. I put it all in one place so that new readers would not have to read this ENTIRE TOPIC. These entries are, as far as I am concerned, up to date. Syd: An amnesiac of 17 hailing from Myrna (although he doesn't remember that), he is a new hero in the story (Link's still in, you just switch between the two... a mechanic that I'm on the fence about changing). He has a sword, which he named Wolf's Fang, carries a crossbow, and is very capable of wielding any weapon. Syd also has an ability to heighten his strength by tapping into his rage: this is referred to as "Rage," and will be discussed later. Syd is an excellent swordsman, using swift and graceful attacks, but he is somewhat lacking in power with single strikes. He has blue eyes and wears a whitish-beige tunic, with some leather padding as an ultra-lightweight armor of sorts. Unlike Hylians, his ears are not pointed. He wears fingerless leather gloves on his hands and usually wears a headband. He has brown hair that's usually spiked due to his lack of grooming it. (I'm on the fence with giving him a unique and interesting weapon such as a whip) Vakura: The angel of death. He was born in Myrna as a mortal man, a slave to the immense strength that he was born with; he always wanted more power to add to this, and he thought that the way to do so was to kill others. When he had heard about the mythical Shards of Darkness, he was absolutely determined to find them, drawn by the immense power they were said to grant to he who reunites them. In his quest for information of their whereabouts, he found that he needed to travel to an strange world parallel to that of Myrna; this land was known as Hyrule. He traveled there, where he found himself in the midst of a war over the Triforce. He joined in, killing everyone who fought. He was deemed a hero by the residents of this land (they didn't know that he killed everyone; Vakura lied and told them that everyone else but him was killed in the last stand of the enemy). Done with this, Vakura set out to find the Shards; however, the goddesses knew his ill intentions, and so sealed him away in the Dark Void, a realm in which the most evil of men are imprisoned. He was made the angel of death by the Dark Overlord, ruler of this Dark Void, and was sent back to the world of light. His task was to find the Shards for the Dark Overlord. He wields the hell-born gigablade sword (think Cloud's sword), Sin, with ease, usually holding it with one hand (his right one). On his left hand he wears a clawed gauntlet, just for good measure. He can create portals to the Dark Void whenever he desires, and frequently uses them to teleport great and short distances alike; he has found use for them in battle. He wears a slightly tattered black robe, fitted for his own purposes: he has torn off its hood, sleeves, and some of the bottom (so that it comes up to about knees in the front; the tail is longer), and he has cut long slits in the back to accommodate for his black wings (they reach from slightly above where his wings are attached to his back all the way to the bottom). He has deep-red eyes (they were once brown), and once had a head of long, brown hair when he was mortal. Now he is completely bald, with his head bearing severe red scars that could be mistaken for ritualistic markings. Like Syd, he too lacks pointed ears. The Dark Overlord: The self-proclaimed ruler of the Dark Void. He created what are now the Shards of Darkness as well as Sin. He was trapped in the Dark Void when he tried to destroy Hyrule at the time of creation, causing the splitting of Hyrule and Myrna into two separate worlds. He has enlisted the service of Vakura to increase Sin's power, reunite the Shards of Darkness, and deal the finishing blow to the goddesses he hates so. Rage: The ability that Syd can tap into. It has only been engaged in the past if Syd got really pissed off (didn't happen much, probably once or twice). It increases his strength two-and-a-half fold (Syd has 80% the attack power of Link, so his power increases to 200%, by my calculations), but at a terrible risk. Some time after Syd engages Rage, the edges of the screen will start to turn red; that redness spreads inwards as time passes. As soon as the whole screen turns red, Syd will lose control of himself, and control switches to Link, who will fight Syd to bring him under control (corruption occurs around 20-25 seconds after Rage is engaged). This situation is forced upon the player some time after Link and Syd's paths cross and intertwine; the player can only control Syd, who is in Rage, and the player fights until Rage takes over Syd. Syd learns to control this power, and now can engage it at will. To prevent noobs from spamming the ability, several measures have been taken to discourage it. Exiting it becomes harder the redder the screen is; repeated engagements can also cause a faster loss of control; recommended time between engagements is around 3-5 minutes, but it may be necessary to repeatedly engage more often. (I'm thinking of changing that interval to, like, 7 minutes or so, but it could shrink as Syd gains more experience with it) "Flash": This refers to a flow of sensory information, usually sight and sound, from memories that flash across Syd's eyes; he regains his memory in this way. They are always triggered when Syd sees or hears something related to his past, but they are surprisingly random in that they do not always trigger (but they often do, especially if it is an important memory); also, the memories are often partial at best e.g. when Syd first heard Vakura's name, he flashed and remembered that he was a hero and that he himself was a descendant of his, but he did not remember that Vakura was evil (he was never told of this, but he experienced it himself). (Yes, you read that right. Syd is in fact related to Vakura; Vakura was Syd's father's grandfather's grandfather [I don't know what that simplifies to, so live with it]. This is thought to be where Syd gets his Rage ability from: it seems to be a temporary package of Vakura's enormous strength. This theory is not yet proven.) More Later |
